Words
Lyrics by Benita Mae
Performed by Kylie Kain
My step dad told me to write a song about how and why I write and how it changed my life. This song really is my personal Autism journey. I wanted to show that I am not scared. And to show that whenever I hear music I hear people telling stories about their lives.
Words
When I was young I was too scared to even speak
But my mother always thought that I was unique
I didn’t play like all the other kids
Too afraid to even open up my mouth
Will the words even come out?
Then one day I write down my heart
Thinking about who I’m gonna be
That’s when I knew my part
Then I could finally see
I can’t talk but I can write
May I just say the world never seemed so bright
I can’t help to write my heart down and out
Let people know what I’m all about
I can’t use my voice but I can use my words
I might be speechless
But that doesn’t mean that I’ll go unnoticed
People tell me that I’m useless, but I took that un-noted
Having a little conversation through song
Writing massages through lyrics
Playing along with the melodies that go on and on
What can I say? When it comes to talking I’m terrified
But when it comes to writing I’m fearless
Chorus
When I hear the symphonies
When I hear them sing their hearts out
I can tell their telling stories
Of their live’s and what their all about
Talking to the world through the music
Knowing that they won’t go silent
Artists make their appearance
No matter what people say they’re not afraid to show their talent
Chorus
